The SCAR-L is an assault rifle type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.
The SCAR-L is the light variant of the FN SCAR (Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle), a gas-operated short-stroke gas piston automated rifle chambered to a variety of cartridges. It was originally developed by FN Herstal for the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) as an entry to the SCAR Competition, a competition to find the new service rifle for SOCOM. As of 2015, the SCAR family of rifles is in service in over 20 countries.[1] In BATTLEGROUNDS, it proves to be a well rounded rifle with a quieter muzzle report and good stability.
Summary
The SCAR-L is a relatively stable assault rifle, with a rate of fire that, together with its moderately low recoil, allows it to be easy to control. With a vertical grip and compensator the rifle can comfortably be used on full auto even with a 4x scope. The most noticeable drawback is its restrictive iron sights, so finding a reflex sight or scope should be a priority when finding this weapon. It also has the slowest bullet speed of the 5.56mm rifles, although this is still much faster than the 7.62mm rifles. The slow bullet speed and relatively mediocre stats of this gun are compensated by the fact that this gun has the furthest minimum damage falloff distance of all the non-crate assault rifles and that gunfire from this weapon is quieter compared to the other assault rifles.
The SCAR-L will deal maximum damage out to 70 meters, reaching its minimum at 495 meters.

Update history
- Increased damage by +1. (41 → 42)
Update #49 (Season 10 - Update 10.2)
- Adjusted the reload animations of M416, Scar-L, QBZ, G36C to better match the reload speeds.
- The reload animations adjustments are a follow-up to the Balance tweaks to the 556 guns in the 9.2 November update.
Update #47 (Season 9 - Update 9.2)
We are constantly listening to your feedback and discussing community sentiment internally. After careful review, we agree with many of you that the Beryl adjustment with 9.1 update wasn't effective enough at reducing the strength of the Beryl in relation to other ARs and have made the following follow up adjustments this patch:
- To reduce the difference in reload speed of Beryl with M416, SCAR-L, QBZ, G36C following adjustments were made.
- Magazine reload times of M416, SCAR-L, QBZ, G36C has been decreased by 10%.
Update #41 (Season 7 - Update 7.2)
- Increase reload time.
Update #31 (Season 4 - Update 4.1)
- Reduced vertical and horizontal recoil of the SCAR-L.
- Rebalanced AR's so none is the “objective” best—the power differential between each is now reduced, but each brings advantages to different situations.
- Restricted big scopes (8x and up) for use with all AR's.
- Slightly decreased the damage of the SCAR-L.
- Increased reload time by 30% for the SCAR-L.
- Decreased recoil recovery rate.
- Added new recoil animations.
Early Access (Month 2 Update) - v2.3.28
- Modified recoil for the SCAR-L.
